Federal charges were filed this week against Social Security disability attorney Eric Conn, Social Security Administrative Law Judge David Daugherty, and Dr. Alfred Bradley Adkins, a clinical psychologist in U.S. District Court in Lexington, Ky.

Media reports outlined details of the charges, which include conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, submission of false and fraudulent medical documentation to the Social Security Administration to get disability benefits, money laundering, and destruction of records in a federal investigation.

The indictments occurred more than two years after former U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn issued results from a two-year investigation of the Social Security disability program and outlined evidence his team gathered about Eric Conn and his law firm’s practices.

Sen. Coburn’s investigation occurred following The Wall Street Journal article that profiled Judge Daugherty in 2011.
